Rachael Vs Introductions
I was born and have lived most of my life in New Orleans. When I was younger I also lived in Texas, Ohio, and Illinois which gave me a deeper appreciation for the uniqueness and culture of my hometown. It also gave me a broader perspective on this crazy world of ours. I've seen a lot and been through a lot. I currently live in the New Orleans area with my husband and 2 wonderful cats. I'm trying my best to live as healthy as possible. I like to bake though, so sometimes it's hard!
I grew up playing sports, but was by no means an athlete! I played volleyball, basketball, softball, and did cheer-leading throughout my youth and teenage years. When I got to college I found a new love of running. It shocked me because I hated running when I was younger! After a few years of casual running and a few 5ks and 10ks, I gave in and ran my first half marathon. Surprisingly I loved it! It would take me a few more years and a few more half marathons before I finally gave in and ran a full marathon. Mentally I was not prepared for the hills of San Diego. New Orleans has NO hills and is below sea level. How am I supposed to train for hills?? I swore I would never do another one. A month later I signed up for one in Baton Rouge... Then I ran New York. 3 marathons in 18 months. Fair to say I'm hooked!
I wanted to create a space to get my thoughts out. I know others aren't comfortable sharing experiences, so maybe if I do, they won't feel so alone. I love to hear others stories too, so please feel free to reach out!
